Alope is wild. She is in trouble constantly with her parents, but she just can’t seem to control herself. Alope wants to see everything there is under the ocean, including the places other mermaids simply won’t travel. Alope knows she should be afraid of the dark caverns and seemingly endless pits on the ocean floor, but somehow she just can’t be more afraid than she is curious about them.
Her curiosity almost always gets the better of her eventually no matter how hard Alope tries to stay away from the places her parents have declared off limits. More than once she’s barely escaped from sea monsters and other creatures of the deep, but the mystery and excitement just keeps drawing her back. Alope was born for adventure, even if she has to explore in secret.
Iris loves to dress up. Her dress up games are a sport entirely unto themselves. Since there are so few opportunities for teenagers to don costumes and have a good time, Iris creates opportunities by throwing costume parties and masquerades as often as she can. Her friends all love her parties because they are different than the traditional weekend gatherings typical of high school kids.
Iris plans a party for months. She gets some local bands or a DJ to play the party for free as the entertainers know they will be getting plenty of free publicity. She provides food, drinks and dancing that rival any of the school dances. And best of all, Iris plans and sews a new costume for each celebration. At the moment, she’s working on her mermaid costume for a spring fling. It’s going to be another great time.
